Visa Requirements

Before traveling to Taiwan, please review the visa requirements and ensure you have a valid visa. Official visa information can be obtained from the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Below is a summary of the visa application options. Please select the one that best matches your status to proceed.

  • Visa-exemption program: Citizens of countries included in the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) visa-exemption program do not require a visa. Please check if your passport qualifies for this exemption.
  • Visa/eVisa: If you need a visa to enter Taiwan, we recommend applying for an eVisa. Please follow the instructions provided here.
  • For Hong Kong and Macau passport holders: If you hold a Hong Kong or Macau passport, please follow the instructions here.
  • For Chinese passport holders: If you hold a Chinese passport, please follow the instructions here.

Visa/eVisa Application

We offer two types of visas: the traditional (paper-based) visa and the eVisa (electronic). If eligible, we recommend applying for the eVisa. The application website link is provided here (for both the traditional visa and eVisa).

Please note that applying for an eVisa may require an e-Code. Follow the instructions to apply for the e-Code.

  1. Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply for an eVisa without needing an e-Code: Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Colombia*, Dominica, Ecuador, Kuwait, Mauritius, Montenegro, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Solomon Islands, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates.
  2. For citizens from other countries: To apply for an eVisa, you will need an e-Code. Only conference participants are eligible to apply for an e-Code. The e-Code application will be submitted in batches by the conference organizer. To request an e-Code, please follow these steps: (1) submit your accepted paper information (ID, title, authors) or your completed ACM CCS 2025 registration details, (2) prepare a copy of your passport, and (3) complete the form https://forms.gle/nFJ9J552Fvh41Sp27 before the designated deadlines.
    • Batch 1 deadline: Apr 30
    • Batch 2 deadline: June 15
    • Batch 3 deadline: July 15
The e-Code application is free of charge, and the process typically takes about 6 weeks. Once your application is approved, we will send you the e-Code, which you can use to apply for the eVisa online here. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at lptung@nycu.edu.tw.

For Chinese Passport Holders

*** In short, please complete this form before April 27 if (1) you intend to apply for a business entry permit to attend CCS 2025, or (2) you are departing from China. You don't need to have an accepted paper. Detailed instructions are provided below.

The following process is for applying for a business entry permit as a group to attend conferences held in Taiwan. Overseas Chinese passport holders may apply for a travel entry permit through a much simpler process; however, please be aware that the purposes of these two entry permits differ, and you can only apply either one of them. An attendee must be 18 years or older. The process of applying for business entry permit to Taiwan involves three stages: (1) the conference organizer submits the attendee list for approval, (2) the conference organizer collects attendee information to apply for entry permits (入台证) in batches, and (3) attendees departing from mainland China must apply for the "China Residents to Taiwan Pass" (大通证).

Stages #1 and #2 are managed by the conference organizers, while stage #3 must be completed through the government of China. To ensure a smooth process, please follow the instructions for stages #1 and #2 below.

  1. Stage #1: Please complete this form before the deadline. This form is intended for a single applicant only. If multiple authors of the same paper plan to attend CCS, each author must submit a separate application form. We will process applications in two batches, so make sure to submit your information by the respective deadlines. We encourage all potential attendees to submit your application in the fist batch!
    • Batch 1: April 21 April 27, 23:59 (UTC+8)
    • Batch 2: June 1, 23:59 (UTC+8)
The information we need to collect includes: (a) name (in both Chinese and English); (b) gender; (c) birth date; (d) affiliation; (e) title; (f) email; (g) paper details (ID, title, authors). It's OK if you do not have an accepted paper. The typical processing time for stage #1 may take about 1–2 months.
  2. Stage #2: We will notify attendees once stage #1 is approved. After approval, we will collect additional information from attendees (via an agent). Please complete this form (LINK-TBA) and upload the required documents before the deadline. The tentative deadlines are as follows:
    • Batch 1: June 21 (tentative)
    • Batch 2: August 1 (tentative)
The typical processing time for stage #2 may take about 3–4 weeks. In addition to the application form, you will need to provide the following documents: (a) headshot photo; (b) digital scans of your passport (with at least 6 months of validity); (c) digital scans of your China (or Hong Kong/Macau) ID card (both front and back); (d) proof of employment (for faculty or researchers) or a certificate of enrollment (for students), issued within the last 3 months; (e) if departing from a country other than mainland China, please provide your re-entry permit or residence permit for the departure country. We strongly recommend preparing these documents after submitting your information in stage #1 to ensure you meet the stage #2 deadline.

Please note that stage #2 requires a payment of approximately 600 TWD for the application fee. We will provide instructions on how to make the payment.

  3. Please note that stage #2 is strictly dependent on the completion of stage #1. However, you may proceed with stage #3 in parallel. For details, please refer to this link from the government of China.
